"Had Chef Johnny's lobster mac n cheese last Saturday night. Best one I've had anywhere yet. The service and atmosphere were very good as were a great view of Buzzard's bay. We'll definitely be back to Davy's Locker "

"Whether it's been at Davy's locker main restaurant or at their waterfront tiki bar, my family and I have always found the food to be of very good quality, reasonably priced, and well serviced. I prefer the upper deck patio, but my better-half gives her thumbs up to the tiki bar. Either way you can?t go wrong. "

"I get to Davy's Locker once or twice a year and usually treat my sister when I am visiting New Bedford. I love fried clams and have never been disappointed in the food or the service. I am shocked to read the few negative reviews."

"me and my family went to davy's locker on mother's day and we loved everything about davy's especially the food everyone was raving about the creamy clam chowder and our steaks were cooked perfectly and we just love that stuffed shrimp they serve it was delicious we will come back again and again and good luck with the new upper deck tiki can't wait to see it..... and thank you chefs for making my mom very happy..."

I had the Mediterranean Sea Scallops that was one of Chef Johnny's specials. They were broiled and served with thinly sliced potatoes topped with a sautéed of baby spinach,

You got to be kidding me.

"This place has taken a serious nose dive from a few years ago. The clams were loaded with sand and luke warm. Way overpriced for the quality of food. The ownership should be ashamed of themselves."

Palate Pleaser!
"Been back a hundred times for fish n chips, which has never disappointed. Got adventurous with a delectable baked haddock topped with a lobstermeat stuffing layered on lobster ravioli. Finished with a pesto sauce, this dish was a winner. "

"me and my wife went to davy's locker today for lunch, i had the clam chowder and my wife had the fish chowder these 2 chowders were the best i've ever had it's always consistent, then we also shared an order of stuffed mushrooms they were very tasty. our server was very friendly and brought out our food nice and hot the way it should be, i had the garlic shrimp and my wife had the broiled scrod it was unbelievable!!! the food was so fresh our vegetables were just perfect and we loved the atmosphere, nice fish tanks!!! i recommend davy's to everyone i can't wait to try it again and everything was reasonably priced..."

"This place has gone downhill...as in well below acceptable. Judging by the reviews from 2010, I'm not alone in my feelings. The food was mediocre, yet vestly overpriced. The service was terrible, slow and rude. The place is dark and dusty...I won't be back ever!"

Muddy Steamed Calms
Cons: Muddy Steamers!
"We ate at the Tiki Bar on Sunday, 8-29. Sully was very good but kept saying he was sorry for all the delays. Don't get the steamers, they were full of mud and cold. My broth turned competely black! $13.00 for about 12 steamers was ridiculous as well!"

Bill Increase without warning / Poor Customer Service
"My friend and I ordered a meal that in the menu was one price. When our bill came it was higher than what was advertised. When I questioned the waitress, she shrugged me off without an apology or explanation and said, we are adding $x. I pointed out that this was false advertising and unethical. Rather than embarrass my friend I left - but called the manager later that day who put me on hold, came back said he was busy. I gave him my number and he never called me back. "

Best seafood ever
"We were there for Mother's Day and the food was fantastic as always and the services was excellent even with the restaurant being packed. We go there every time we are back in the area. I have never found a better place for Fried clams and New England Clam Chowder."

Aggravating birthday dinner

"Last Sunday a friend and I went to Davy's to celebrate her birthday.
we went to the bar and asked if we could be served there. The bartender assured us that we could. Unfortunately, the restaurant was crowded and he was working alone. We finished our drinks and asked if we could order. He told us we would have to wait for 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we managed to get his attention, and asked again to order. He told us he didn't have time to take any orders to the kitchen! I finally went to the hostess and asked her to send a waitress into the bar area to take our order. She arrived quickly and we were soon served a great meal!
Unfortunately, the experience in the bar dampened the birthday celebration. Davy's needs more help behind the bar. "

Excellent food!

"Probably the hottest and freshest seafood we've had in years. Only problem is that the location is a bit out of the way... though it's on the ocean. We had fish and chips, scallops, and steak tips. Not one complaint, even the steak was outstanding. Next time we are in town Davy's is a definite stop."

"sat and waited for 15 minutes for some one to seat us on a saturday night. its expected for a saturday night, but the service is really sloooooow. it took the waiter 35 minutes to take our order. then another 25 minutes to serve us!!!!!!!!!!!! wich by the way there fried clams were like eating sand,french fries were cold, soggy,prices aint all that cheap,waiters ought to be repramanded for being so slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not paying attention to the customer."

"wow i went to davy's locker today and had an excellent lunch. i can't believe how good my fish cakes and chowder was. my swordfish scampi was to die for and the best part was the cheese cakes wow what an amazing selection i taught i was at the cheese cake factory. davy's keep up the great work i will definitely be back."

"Excellent chowder! I had the seafood platter with the freshest scallops and cod I've tasted in years. My cousin said his lazymans lobster/sirloin steak combo was out of this world. Everyone else was happy. Only complaint was prime rib is grilled over a fire if you don't tell the waiter not to."

Desperately Needs Refreshing

"While the seafood still holds it's own, the interior is in dire need of a remodel. Smelly and 1980's, pretty much sums up the facility. It is no longer the premiere seafood destination in New Bedford, that it once was."

"I have been going to Davy's since I was a teenager... every Friday night. We left the area but have sense moved back... We couldn't wait to get to Davy's... We have gone 4 times since coming home, and each time we have been disappointed. I think it is fine for lunch, but for dinner, unless you are getting fried food, the quality of the food has slipped. The service is slow and my meal was cold when it arrived. We will continue to go, but we will not be going every week any longer. Too many good places have come up. "

"The ambiance is wonderful but in truth the food is wayo over-priced. In the area there are many "hole-in-the -wall places that might not have the atmosphere, but the food is better and far cheaper. I'd avoid unless you're looking to impress out of town visitors."

A Good Time
"We dined at Davy's on June 26th. It was a great experience. We had a excellent waitress, the food was wonderful, and we left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. It's a great seafood place. The fried clams are to die for, however they do great things with steak and chicken too. And you can eat out side in a covered area if you like. Since it's on the water this is a nice feature. I recommend this restaurant highly. We have been many times and have never been dissatisfied. Also, the bathroom is quite interesting, there are fishtanks where the windows were. Check it out!"

"I went to Davy's Locker this past weekend for lunch. I couldn't believe how many shrimp dishes they had available called "SHRIMPMANIA MENU". I had the Coconut Shrimp it was excellent and the portions for lunch are plentiful. I also had there fish chowder which was also delightful. I will be going there many more times with my family.

Still Great After All These Years

"Been going to Davy's Locker since the late 1970's and the food has never been better.We come down all the way from Quincy at least six times a year just for the Grand Marnier salmon.Simply the best salmon dish we have ever eaten anywhere."

Once one of the city's jewels, the last 3 times we have dined there, there service has been slow, the food average to poor, often undercooked and/or cold, and overpriced. We are fortunate to have so many dining options in this area, Davey's, sadly, is now one to skip."
